Hello and welcome

In building this website I’ve been challenged to really hone in on what it is that I’m all about, and who I am as a therapist. It’s been an interesting and rewarding experience. One thing I’ve discovered is an aversion to AI generated imagery! So I’ve been out with my camera trying to capture images that feel representative of what I’m trying to communicate here. I’m not an artist so this has been a learning curve, and so far I only have one image I want to use, which is the backdrop for every page currently. It shows a wisp of cloud, lit by the sun, on a blue sky, and a brand new crescent moon. I took it at five in the morning one day before the world had woken up.

The light and the dark

To me this image represents light, and dark, and how both can exist together in the same space. And really, that’s what I’m all about; just another person learning to hold the complexity of duality, whether that’s pain and joy, life and death, or night and day.

The other thing that has crystallised for me while I’ve been working out how to introduce myself here is that I want to show up as a real person, and not as a therapist who keeps themselves closed off from those she works with.

This isn’t to say that I don’t think there’s value in that approach, and reasons for it, because there are, and they can be important, but I’ve found it valuable to meet my own therapists as they are, and so I want to show up for you whole, and with openness. Hello!
